New way to manage Control Panel administrators roles and privileges

Previously, administrator privileges were assigned on a per-user basis. As a replacement, you can now create "roles" such as Help Desk, Services, and Groups, or create your own custom role.

If you assigned delegated administrator privileges to users before administrator roles were available, Google Apps created roles for those settings. These custom roles have the name role_useremail, where useremail is the email address of the user to whom the privileges were assigned.

Audit your Marketplace app logins

The new Audit Log's Marketplace Login Activity page lists when a user successfully logs in to Google Apps Marketplace applications installed in your account.

Each auto log entry describes a user's successful Marketplace login activity including the Marketplace application's name and login page URL, the user's primary email address, and the activity's date.

Control panel search now faster + new search operators

The user search box in the Google Apps control panel has received a speed boost, and you can now use search operators such as:

      This firstname operator query returns all accounts whose first name starts with "rob":
      firstname:rob

      This lastname operator query returns all accounts whose last name starts with "smith":
      lastname:smith

You can also combine search operators to further refine your search.

More control for administrators with new options in chat settings

Google Apps administrators now have more options when configuring chat settings in the control panel. The following new options are now available and can be configured for the entire domain or at the organizational unit level:

- Allow users to place phone calls to landline and mobile phones from chat.*
- Allow users to place voice calls from chat to other chat users.
- Allow users to place video calls from chat to other chat users.
- Allow users to transfer files to other chat users.

Some existing settings have moved from the ‘Email Settings’ tab and can now also be configured at the organizational level.

US English only (Next Generation version)

How to access what's new:
Log in to the administrator control panel and select “Settings” and then “Chat”. The new options are at the bottom under “Additional Services”.

*Note: If you do not see the new option for phone calls, then this option is not available to you because the Call Phone feature in Gmail is not available in your country. More information on this here.

Log Analyzer, Message Header Analyzer and other Support tools now available to Google Apps administrators.
